CareLiving did not start with a business plan. It started with a lifetime of showing up for people. Patricia Onwugbenu began her career as a teacher — spending years nurturing children, building confidence, and learning what it truly means to care for someone who depends on you. From the classroom she moved into childcare, and eventually into senior care, following a natural calling that had guided her entire professional life. For Patricia, caring has never been a job title. It is simply who she is. Her daughter, Uju Onwugbenu took a different path to the same destination. With a background in public health, Uju understood care at a systems level — how access, coordination, and quality of service shape the health and dignity of entire communities. She saw the gaps that families in Northern Virginia were falling through, and she knew those gaps could be closed. Together, mother and daughter combined a lifetime of hands-on care with professional expertise to build something Northern Virginia was missing: a home care agency that feels like family, runs like a professional operation, and never loses sight of the person at the center of it all.
